KIOTI TRACTORS

Model CK 27HP c/w set of Wide Galaxy Tyres

COMPACTION and the causes on the soccer field is a priority for all of us in this business and a real important issue when making our equipment purchases…

When it comes to selecting the right Tractor for the job there’s a lot of options and choices out there and we appreciate this can cause some confusion and create more difficult choices…!

Fundamentals for Soccer Field applications:
The tractor needs to have enough engine power and lift capacity to operate the attachments BUT, We also need to give serious consideration to the Tractors weight as this can also be a contribution and cause for unnecessary compaction on the soccer field….

ENGINE – 25 thru 30HP has certainly proved its worth when making the right tractor choice. The 27hp is more than capable of handling all the maintenance /attachments required.

LIFT CAPACITY
This is the power of the 3-point hitch to lift heavy equipment, including aerators and sprayers.
Lift capacity is usually quoted “at the ball ends”, but most implements have their weight centered a little behind the ball ends, and lifting power is reduced the further back the load is centered.
At 24 inches to the rear, lift capacity is usually around 60% of the figure at the ball ends.

POWER TAKE-OFF CLUTCH
Many tractors have a one pedal “2-stage clutch” pedal, which restricts the choice of transferring power to the wheels and or the PTO for the attachment.
Some attachments need the ability to drive forward without running the PTO (spreaders etc) and some need the ability to start the attachments PTO before starting to move forward - such as with most modern aerators like Vertidrain.
For this reason we need totally separate clutches for PTO drive and transmission.

TRANSMISSION
Sometimes the tractor needs to be able to move slowly, but provide the full PTO shaft speed for running the attachment.
In order to achieve this, the transmission requires a “creep” gear for manual transmissions.
Hydrostatic (“automatic”) transmissions also meet this requirement.

WHEELS, TYRES especially tyre pressures don’t usually get the level of attention they truly deserve.
No point in aerating a field with a tractor that compacts as fast as the aerator de-compacts!
A tractor that is larger (hence heavier) than is needed will cause more compaction.

  • We recommend that wheels should have wide rims in order to be able to fit wide, soft-patterned, turf tires. These spread the weight of the tractor and its attachments over as large an area as possible.

  • Tires should be inflated to the correct pressures-not the “max pressure” marked on the tire (as often Is the case).

  • If the tractor is fitted with the correct wheels and tires, these should be inflated to the maker’s specification (this is usually around 10-12 psi for the front tires, and 12-15 psi for the rear.

  • This gives a ground pressure of roughly the same figure. That is less than half of the ground pressure as opposed to using an “agricultural” wheel that is normally fitted and “road” tires.

AUXILIARY HYDRAULICS
Some attachments require a separate hydraulic supply to come from the tractor (including modern sweepers).
For this the tractor needs to have at least one pair of hydraulic connections at the rear – one “flow” and one “return”.
It is important to ensure that there is enough flow available for the specification of the attachment.

FRONT WEIGHTS
A tractor may have a specification ( for example ) that it will lift 1000kg on the rear hitch but, with a 1000kg load, the load may stay on the ground and the front wheels lift up.
For loads near the maximum specified, we need load weight to the front.
This is more commonly achieved by adding a support frame to the front of the tractor and hanging “front weights” to this.
The simple answer is to allow for flexibility with the various weights of the attachments and to discuss this issue with your supplier.

There is a common acceptance now that these Kioti compact tractors (with built in options as standard) are more economical not only in terms of cost but in terms of maximizing your return on investment.
We know that all the additional items that are usually offered by other manufacturers as options also increase their overall cost.

We are recommending the KIOTI CK 27HP c/w a set of Wide Galaxy Flotation Tyres such as viewed on our website.
The Kioti Tractors are highly recommended and used by the GPYW for all their soccer fields in Saudi Arabia
